Police in Rohnert Park were called to assist Sonoma County Probation officers Saturday evening, after a destructive device thought to be a pipe bomb was discovered, according to police.

Police said officers responded at 5:12 p.m. to an apartment building to evacuate the occupants as well as the occupants from surrounding areas after a probation officer located the pipe bomb.

According to police, during the removal of the device, the Sonoma County Bomb Squad located a second device.

Both devices were removed from the residence, and officers conducted additional searches to ensure safety.
