Police in San Leandro are warning cab drivers after an assault and robbery.
The incident was reported just after 1 a.m. Thursday after a cab driver picked up a passenger at the San Leandro BART station. The man asked the driver to take him to Marina Boulevard, which is less than a mile away from the station.
When they arrived at the destination the passenger got out of the vehicle and another man wearing a ski mask allegedly opened the cab door, punched the driver in the face and demanded money.
The driver complied and the attacker fled.
Police said they believe the passenger may have lured the cab driver to that spot for his partner to rob him.
