Police in Antioch have arrested a 41-year-old man they believe was handling a gun when he accidentally shot and killed his brother on Saturday.
George Enriquez, 41, was arrested for involuntary manslaughter and possession of an assault weapon in connection with the shooting, which took place in the 2300 block of Cambridge Drive, according to Antioch Police.
Police believe Enriquez' brother, 37-year-old Michael Enriquez, of Pittsburg, went to his brother's Antioch home to show off a newly acquired gun.
While the two men were handling the weapon, it fired, striking the younger brother, police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call from Enriquez saying he had accidentally shot his brother at about 6:40 p.m., police said.
Police and paramedics arrived on scene and found the 37-year-old man suffering a single gunshot wound, police said.
The victim was declared dead at the scene, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
