Police: Boy Assaulted in Berkeley Marina Bathroom

Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a boy in the bathroom of the Berkeley Marina.

The boy is safe, but the suspect — described as an African-American man with green-streaked blonde hair — is still on the loose.

Sgt. Mary Kusmiss said a person called police on Tuesday just after 1:30 p.m. to report the crime, prompting officer to respond very quickly and seal off the marina area.

Officers took posts on University Avenue and Marina Boulevard where they checkec out the interior of all cars leaving the area. Crews from the East Bay Regional Parks Police and the Department of Fish and Game spent many hours searching for the suspect from the air and on foot, motorcycle, bicycle, dirt bike and patrol car.

But despite their pleas for help from the public and their efforts, police have still not caught the suspect.

Not much is known about the boy, other than that he is younger than 10.
