Police Identify Man Found Dead, Slumped Over Steering Wheel in San Jose's Berryessa Neighborhood

Police identified on Monday the city's 23rd homicide victim as 26-year-old Justin Tran of San Jose, who was found last month, dead and slumped over the steering wheel of his car in the Berryessa neighborhood.

Police provided no more details regarding Tran's death, other than his name. He was found on June 27, in the 1700 block of Cape Aston Court.

Since then, the city's homicide rate has risen to 25, after two men were killed on June 28 at South 11th and East San Antonio streets near San Jose University.

Last year at this time there were 11 homicides.
