2 Men Found Shot to Death in Murder-Suicide at Palo Alto Senior Housing Complex: Police

Police are investigating a murder-suicide inside a Palo Alto senior housing complex.

Two men were found shot to death Thursday afternoon at the Alta Torre Senior Apartments housing complex in the 3800 block of Fabian way.

Emergency crews responded at about 3:20 p.m. after receiving a 911 call alerting them a person needed medical assistance inside an elevator.

Firefighters were first to arrive on scene and discovered a dead man inside the elevator with a semi-automatic handgun on his lap. Officials determined the man died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was described by police to be in his 60s.

Police then responded and found another dead man with multiple gunshot wounds inside a first-floor office. The man was described by police to be in his 70s.

Police during the investigation canvassed the apartment complex for any possible witnesses and said there does not appear to be any outstanding suspects.

Investigators are also looking into how and if the two men knew each other. Both men lived at the housing complex, police said.

The coroner arrived at the scene at 9 p.m.
