Police Investigate 2-Minute Smash-And-Grab Burglary At SF Antique Store

It’s happened again.

San Francisco police are investigating another smash and grab burglary. This time, a high-end antique store was hit and police will have a lot of video to look at.

“Stuff Collective” on Valencia Street has more than 40 surveillance cameras.

Before the four suspects break in, a few people can be seen walking on the street. Store owner James Spinello says the security alarm went off just after 4 a.m. Surveillance video shows a man wearing a hat and a surgical mask grab two flat screen TVs off the wall, while the other three break the display cases and take whatever they can get.

“They were just after the jewelry. They took most of my jewelry,” said John Young. Young said the robbers made off with about $3,000 worth of jewelry from his collection.

The suspects were in and out in less than two minutes. Three of them leave in a black get away truck and one person rode off on a bike with a bag full of loot, Young said.

“I think they were going for whatever they can. Quick and easy,” he said.

Spinello says six dealers who rent space in the store lost collectibles, in some cases one of a kind pieces.

“I just think it’s really sad that they feel like they can do this and not be bothered. It affects a lot of people’s lives,” he said.

San Francisco police are investigating if these suspects are linked to more than half a dozen similar burglaries in the past few months.

In the meantime, Young is picking up the pieces and hoping the thieves don’t come back again.

In the past four months there have been at least eight smash and grab robberies in San Francisco
