Police Investigating Murder in San Jose

Neighborhood where man shot considered safe.

San Jose police investigating yet another homicide this morning.

An 18-year-old was shot on Ross Circle, near Cambrian Park, just before 9 p.m. Monday night. The man died at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

Police have not released a motive or suspect description in the killing.

This is the third deadly shooting in the city in the past week. The other two involved San Jose police officers.

On Sunday, officers shot and killed a man after receiving a report of a suspicious person with a gun. Last Monday, officers shot and killed a man after responding to reports of shots fired.

The San Jose Mercury News says Monday night's homicide brings the number of people killed in San Jose this year to 38. There were just 21 homicides in San Jose in all of 2010.

San Jose's police chief will hold a news conference today to address the recent violence in the city as well as the two officer involved shootings.
