Triple Shooting in East San Jose Leaves Two Dead: Police

Police are on the hunt for a gunman in a triple-shooting that left two people dead Thursday night in East San Jose, authorities said. They were the first two homidicides of 2017.

Officers responded to La Mejor Taqueria, at 2003 Story Road, on a report of two people shot. When they arrived, they found three men suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim was wounded and taken to a local hospital, police said.

On Friday, a police source said the third man is expected to survive. The two who died were not immediately identified; police said one of the men died while he was sitting down and the other man who died appeared to be running away at the time he was shot, the source said.

Witnesses at the scene told NBC Bay Area the gunman just walked into the taqueria and started shooting.

"When I went to the back door, I seen a body laying," one witness said.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation. No suspects have been identified, police said.
