Teen Girl Found Dead in State Park

A missing Santa Rosa girl searched online for directions to Annadel State Park, where searchers found a dead body Friday.

Searchers found a dead body believed to be a missing Santa Rosa teen in Annadel State Park Friday, police said.

It appeared to be a suicide by hanging.

Charlotte Anna Molinari, 15, has been missing since she went on a bike ride around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, police said.

On Wednesday, investigators found a recent journal entry that indicated Molinari was thinking about committing suicide by pills, police said.

Just before Molinari left her apartment Saturday, she searched online for directions to Annadel State Park, investigators discovered Thursday morning.

By Thursday afternoon, Santa Rosa police and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office were out searching for Molinari. Helicopter and search-and-rescue teams focused on Spring Lake Park and Annadel State Park until until 9 p.m., according to police.

The search continued Friday morning with volunteers and search dogs.

Searchers found the dead body, believed to be Molinari, around 5:30 p.m. Friday in Annadel State Park between Canyon Trail and Skycrest Way, police said.

Molinari attended Sonoma Academy, police said.

When Molinari was last seen Saturday, she was wearing a dark blue knee-length coat and was carrying a green backpack. She was on a green mountain bike and had a laptop and ukulele with her, police said.

The Coroner's Office is scheduled to examine the body on Monday.

Police are asking anyone with information about Molinari to call Detective Jeneane Kucker at (707) 543-3595 or the dispatch center after hours at (707) 528-5222.
