San Jose Police Search for Suspect Prompts School Lockdown

San Jose police on Friday night located and arrested a suspect wanted on a felony warrant in a gang investigation.

The search for the suspect prompted the lockdown of a nearby school and street closures in the area of Vine Street near Grant Street. Officers began looking for the suspect around 3 p.m. San Jose police Officer Albert Morales said.

Police said the suspect was holed up in an apartment. When officers attempted to make entry the suspect fled on foot, but was later found and arrested at 6:15 p.m.

During the search, police asked the public to avoid the area, which is near the interchange between Interstate Highway 280 and state Highway 87.
