A girl visiting San Francisco with a group of tourists was sexually assaulted near Fisherman's Wharf overnight, according to police.

San Francisco police say the girl somehow got separated from her group around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Police searched the area and found the girl, who was with the suspect on Northpoint Street. The suspect, Christopher Dutel, was taken into custody for assault.  Police said Dutel is 18-years-old and from Southern California. He has since been booked on multiple sexual assault charges and false imprisonment.

Police say both the victim and the suspect were taken to the hospital for some kind of injuries.
