There are anywhere from "80 to 100" warrants still being served in the high-profile murder case of a Monte Sereno millionaire, killed in a brutal home invasion.
That's according to Denise Zingale, a defense attorney for Raven Dixon, a 22-year-old alleged prostitute charged with being an accessory to the murder after the fact in the death of Ravi Kumra, 66, found dead at his sprawling estate on Nov. 30.
His ex-wife, Harinder "Rani" Kumra, was able to free herself from the unusual attack in this affluent city, which hadn't had a homicide in 40 years.
Zingale said that large number of warrants still active in the case is why the documents in Kumra's homicide have remained sealed since his death.
It's also why Dixon's attorneys said they still haven't received discovery in the case against her - a fact that has frustrated both her lawyers and family because they don't know specifically what prosecutors are alleging she did.
Outside a brief court hearing at the San Jose Hall of Justice, Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Kevin Smith on Thursday did cite that the investigation into Kumra's death is still "active" and "ongoing."
But Smith would not confirm the number of warrants, if any, that are still being served in the case. He credited "many, many agencies" that have worked hard, and are still working hard, to make sure that everyone involved is "brought to justice."
Smith agreed in court before Judge Kenneth Shapero to release some documents - called the "statement of facts" in the case against Dixon - by Friday.
Outside court, Smith said Dixon is "well aware" of why she's been held in jail on $1-million bail after lengthy conversations with police. She was arrested Dec. 18 on separate charges for allegedly being a prostitute and being in possession of drugs. She has also been charged with a gang enhancement, and then later, in connection with Kumra's death. Her mother, Sandra Mitchell, and pastor, Derrick Mann of the Church of Yeshua Our Lord in Hayward, were at court to support Dixon.

Aside from Dixon, there are three other people in custody in connection with Kumra's death. They are: Javier Garcia, 21, Lucas Anderson, 26, and Deangelo Austin, 21. They appeared in red jumpsuits and shackles on Thursday, saying little. All were represented by attorneys. They are expected to return to court on Feb. 14 to enter pleas.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, at least two of the defendants are members of an East Oakland gang.
