Powell Station Re-Opens, Suspicious Package

San Francisco police dispatched a bomb squad Tuesday morning to the area near BART's Powell Street Station because of a suspicious device.

The station was reopened by about 8 a.m., almost an hour after the pacakge was reported.

SF Bay Area Rapid Transit District's Alicia Trost said the device was found near a a bus shelter near Cyril Magnin and Market Street. There are several streets in the area that are closed, as well as the Powell Street cable car turnaround.
 

Police deemed the pacakge safe just after 8 a.m.
