‘Preliminary Talks' Between Giants, Brewers Over Braun Trade: Report

With outfielder after outfielder serving time on the disabled list, the San Francisco Giants are reportedly looking to add a major reinforcement.

The Giants "have had preliminary talks with [the] Brewers about Ryan Braun," according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, who also reports that "nothing is imminent."

The Brewers open a three-gamer series against the Giants AT&T Park on Monday night.

Braun, the 2011 National League Most Valuable Player, is hitting .316 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI.

Injuries have depleted San Francisco’s outfield as of late. Angel Pagan is due to come off the disabled list after a hamstring injury sent him to the shelf for a second time in May. Hunter Pence is recovering from hamstring surgery and is expected to be out for another seven weeks. And backup outfielder Kelby Tomlinson was placed on the 15-day disabled list last week following a sprained left thumb.

The Giants have filled their need in the outfield with young players like Jarrett Parker and Mac Williamson while signing veterans Travis Ishikawa and Chris Denorfia to minor league contracts.
