For weeks, the students of San Jose’s Presentation High School have been working hard to help those in need in their community.
Tuesday they loaded up 1,151 turkeys to benefit Sacred Heart Community Services of San Jose.
The friendly competition pitted freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors against each other as they collected food, coats and blankets, diapers and other toiletries to help their community’s most vulnerable people.
"It’s not about the spirit points or anything,” said high school junior Emma Dessau. "It's about the community.”
Community organizers say these students are responsible for 25 percent of all turkeys handed out during the holiday season.
