Prosecution Rests in Mesherle Trial

The prosecution has rested in the trial of a former Bay Area Rapid Transit police officer accused of murder in the shooting of an unarmed black man on an Oakland train platform.

The prosecution concluded Monday after showing the Los Angeles jury videos that captured the moments leading up to the New Year's Day 2009 shooting of 22-year-old Oscar Grant. Officers were called to the station on reports of a fight.

The defendant, 28-year-old Johannes Mehserle, who is white, has pleaded not guilty.

The defense will begin presenting its side to the jury on Tuesday.
