Prostitution Sting Interrupted By Woman Jumping From Window

Union City sting suspected by suspected prostitute.

A woman nearly escaped a Saturday night prostitution sting in Union City by jumping out of a plate glass window before police activated their trap.

Miesha Pecot, 23, of Oakland, was in a second-story room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union City, where officers from the Union City police department as well as the county Vice squad had set up a sting to snare both suspected prostitutes and suspected pimps, according to Bay Area News Group.

But Pecot apparently smelled a trap as undercover police "finalized negotiations to exchange sex for money," the newspaper reported. Before she could be arrested, she broke a plate-glass window, "jumped out of it and tried to run off," the newspaper reported.

Unhurt except for "cuts and scrapes," she made it "10 or 20 yards" before she was arrested by waiting police. Meanwhile, five other people who were arriving at the hotel -- and who were going to be arrested by waiting police -- heard the commotion and departed.

A total of 14 people were arrested on Saturday.
