Protesters gathered in three Bay Area cities for noon rallies Monday to protest President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration.
The demonstrations in Oakland, San Francisco and Walnut Creek were part of a national day of action dubbed the Presidents Day Protest to Fight Trump's Fake Crisis.
Meanwhile, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said he, along with 15 other states, is filing a lawsuit challenging the president’s emergency declaration.
About 200 to 300 people gathered at the federal building in San Francisco with the hope that their words will echo across the street to the appellate court, where they expect a court battle on the issue.
Protester Willow Chiang-yang, a 10th grade student from San Mateo said Presidents Day is supposed to celebrate our leader.
"Our leader is supposed to represent the people," Chiang-yang said. "Our leader is supposed to care about the people."
The Oakland protest took place at Merritt College, and the Walnut Creek rally was held at the corner of South Main Street and Mt. Diablo Boulevard in the downtown area.
