PulsePoint App Helps Save Life of Man Suffering From Heart Attack in Sunnyvale

A 21-year-old Sunnyvale man is being credited for saving a life thanks in part to a mobile app.

Walter Huber responded to the aid of 63-year-old Farid Rashti, who was suffering from a heart attack. Huber was notified of the emergency through PulsePoint, an app developed in the South Bay that alerts people someone nearby is having a cardiac arrest.

The incident occurred two weeks ago at a park near Huber's home.

"I ran up, found a man down on the field suffering from cardiac arrest," Huber said. "I started CPR. People there were on the line with 911 and also trying to help me."

Rashti was saved that day and is now resting at home.

PulsePoint developers said it is the first life saved in Santa Clara County using the app.

"Seeing the life saved because of the app is amazing," said Richard Price, PulsePoint founder. "It's very, very satisfying for our team."

The makers of PulsePoint said they are constantly updating the app, which is also used by fire and police crews to keep up with what other teams are doing in case a crew out in the field needs assistance.
