Ready, Set, Zip!

San Francisco's newest adventure revealed

Strap in, clip on and zip away!

The newest adventure in the City was revealed Thursday night at Justin Herman Plaza to the delight of a crowd of eager thrill-seekers, some who waited hours for a chance to take the heart-dropping ride.

It's all part of a promotion to urge from British Columbia looking to lure San Franciscans to travel to the province this summer. The ride is modeled on a zip line set up in downtown Vancouver during the Olympics.

Olympic Gold Medalists Shani Davis and Ashleigh McIvor helped kick off the high-flying unique marketing ploy then strapped in for their own rides and signed autographs afterward.

Trips on the on the 600-foot line over Justin Herman Plaza are free and will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until April 18.

Will you be among those taking in the bird's-eye view via cable? That's OK if you're too scared to brave the line, just check out the YouTube clip for the much less physically interactive version of the ride.
