Some cities in the Bay Area were hotter than Palm Springs Saturday. One water park had its most visitors of the year. NBC Bay Area's Monte Francis reports.

There was a chance of a few record highs this weekend before the weather began cooling in the Bay Area on Monday.

Inland daytime highs will reach into the upper 90s into the 100s, breaking a few old record highs from a heat streak that hit the Bay Area in 2006. Sunday will remain hot inland while coastal communities will see the sea breeze return, allowing for a natural source of air conditioner.

To start the day Saturday, expect mostly clear skies with morning haze. By the afternoon with poor air quality and extreme heat, temps will top out near 100 Inland. Bayside - in the middle to upper 80s and at the coast in the mid to upper 70s. A red flag warning is in effect until 9pm tonight, so burning is not advised. Winds will gust up to 40 mph, especially in the East Bay and North Bay.

Sunday is expected to be another warm day with upper 90s Inland, mid 80s Bayside and lower 70s at the Coast. The winds will continue to gust up to 40 mph, especially in the North Bay and along the Coast. By the afternoon, the sea breeze will kick back in and allow for cooler conditions by the evening.

Daytime highs will cool back into the lower 80s Inland by Monday. Even the coast will cool back into the lower 60s. With dry conditions in place, the fire danger will continue through the upcoming week.
