Recount Ordered in San Jose Council District 4 Race

An automatic recount in the San Jose City Council District 4 race will begin Monday, according to the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters' Office.

A slim enough margin of votes separated candidates Manh Nguyen and Lan Diep in the primary election June 7, triggering an automatic recount under the direction of the Board of Supervisors.

The final results for the election were certified by the Registrar of Voters on July 7, as required by state law. The certified results can be found online.

The recount is expected to take about 1-2 weeks and will be paid for by the county. It will change the certified results only if it reverses the outcome of the election, the registrar's office said.

For more information on the recount, contact the Registrar of Voters’ Office at 408-299-VOTE (8683) or toll-free at 866-430-VOTE (8683) or visit www.sccvote.org.
