    A Redwood City-based animal shelter, Pets in Need, is hosting pet adoptions to celebrate its 51st birthday Saturday. (Published Saturday, July 9, 2016)

    A Redwood City-based animal shelter is hosting pet adoptions to celebrate its 51st birthday Saturday.

    Dogs and cats can be adopted from Pets in Need, at 871 5th Avenue, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The event is also slated to a raffle and kid-friendly scavenger hunt.

    Pets can be adopted for $51 all weekend long, in honor of the shelter's birthday.

    Pets in Need is Northern California’s first no-kill shelter, according to their website, and is open for adoption seven days a week.
