Report: Oscar Grant's Aunt Shot, Killed in Oakland

Relative of famous police shooting victim shot, killed

Oscar Grant's aunt was shot and killed in East Oakland on Tuesday, a victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, according to reports.

Relatives and friends say that Lanedria Grant, 47 -- whose son was shot and wounded by Oakland police in 2012 -- was not the intended target of gunfire that erupted at 6:45 p.m. in the Brookfield Village neighborhood, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Not far away is the platform of BART's Fruitvale Station, where Oscar Grant was shot in the back by a BART police officer in 2009.

Lanedria Grant was Oscar Grant III's father's sister, the newspaper reported, and was known in the community for helping senior citizens.

No arrests have been made.
