Residents Displaced After 2-Alarm Fire at San Carlos Home

Residents of a home that caught on fire Monday night in San Carlos have been displaced, a fire official said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a smoke coming from a house in the first block of Adam Court shortly after 7:30 p.m., said Deputy fire Chief Stan Maupin of the Redwood City Fire Department, which provides emergency services to San Carlos.

A man inside the home had heard crackling noises, evacuated and notified the fire department, Maupin said.

When crews arrived on scene they found the blaze in the attic and roof, Maupin.

Firefighters at first had difficulty battling the fire, which was upgraded to a second alarm shortly after 8 p.m., according to Maupin.

The blaze was under control at about 8:30 p.m., he said.

The two-story hillside home was uninhabitable following the fire, Maupin said.

Residents of the home were able to find assistance on their own and did not require help from the American Red Cross, he said.

A damage estimate was not available Monday night.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
