    Police in the East Bay are on alert for someone who broke into an officer's car and got away with a police officer’s badge and a loaded firearm. Chuck Coppola reports. (Published Friday, Aug. 21, 2015)

    Police in the East Bay are on alert for someone who broke into an officer's car and got away with a police officer’s badge and a loaded firearm.

    The burglary happened about 8:15 a.m. Friday morning at Point Isabel Regional Shoreline in Richmond, police said.

    Officers searched the area unsuccessfully for the suspect.

    Police have not said where the officer worked. It's also unclear whether there was any forced entry into the car.

    Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department.

    A representative of the park district police was not immediately available to comment.
