Robin Williams' Napa Valley Estate Threatened By Nuns Fire: Report

As the Nuns fire continues to ravage Napa Valley, officials said on Wednesday evening that the blaze was in danger of burning the estate that once belonged to late actor Robin Williams.

Lynne Palmachoff, a Cal Fire spokesperson, told SF Gate that the fire “had reached estate lands.” The paper reported that the agency wouldn’t have additional information until “crews report back on the damage.”

Cal Fire did not have any updated information as of Friday.

Williams, who died in 2014, had the estate custom built in 2003. Named the Villa Sorriso, or “Villa of Smiles,” it sat atop more than 600-acres of land and boasted 20,000-square-feet, five bedrooms, and 10 bathrooms, along with a four-bedroom home for the land’s caretaker.

It was just one of the many properties the Academy-Award winner owned in Northern California. It sold in an all-cash deal after Williams’ death.

Other iconic properties, including the home that once belonged to Peanuts comics creator Charles Schulz, perished in the spate of fires sweeping up much of the Northern Bay Area. At least 30 people perished in the flames, with hundreds more unaccounted for. Hundreds — if not thousands — will return to their homes to find only charred wreckage and ash remaining.

The Nuns Fire alone has scorched more than 44,000 acres, according to Cal Fire. As of Friday morning, it was only five percent contained.See full fire coverage here.
