Rooftop Search for Medical Marijuana Burglar in San Jose

San Jose police wrapped up an early morning search on the rooftops of strip mall on Tuesday, after there was a report of several break-ins at several businesses including a  medical marijuana dispensary called "Haze."

And just about 6 a.m., police could be seen taking one man wearing a T-shirt and jeans into custody, walking him in handcuffs to a patrol car.

At first, police said they were searching for two suspects, but after the man was arrested, they revised their statement, saying he was allegedly the only one involved. Police said the suspect was found hiding on top of an elevator and had to be talked down.

Lt. Danny Acosta said someone broke into "several of the businesses," about 2: 20 a.m. at the mall at 1814 Hillsdale Ave. including the dispensary, a vacant storefront and a dance studio.

According to a YouTube video, Haze is a collective medical marijuana dispensary, which offers free delivery service and high customer reviews.

Acosta wasn't sure if the stores were all burglarized, but there was "glass breakage" in front of the businesses.

Police conducted a "slow search" on rooftops and near every storefront with dogs from the K-9 unit to try to track the burglar down. What was stolen - if anything - was not immediately disclosed.

Fortunately, Acosta said, police don't believe any employees were inside at the time.
