SEIU Sues “Daughters of Charity” Over Hospital Sale

Six hospitals operated by “Daughters of Charity Health System” are slated to be sold to Prime Healthcare.

Four of them are in the Bay Area. The hospitals are operated as nonprofits, meaning the sale must be approved by the Attorney General.

“Daughters of Charity” officials say the hospitals will have to shut down if the sale is blocked.

There is a flip side to this story though.

The SEIU has filed a lawsuit against “Daughters of Charity,” claiming workers are being coerced into supporting the sale, for fear of losing their jobs.
