SF Event to Collect Complaints Against Judge in Stanford Sexual Assault Case

A community event in San Francisco Thursday night will gather complaint forms to unseat Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky.

Persky is under fire for giving ex-Stanford swimmer Brock Turner a six-month sentence for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. Turner, 20, is expected to complete only half of that time; he was booked on June 2 and is scheduled to be released on Sept. 2.

Prosecutors had sought a six-year sentence in the case.

On Tuesday, the DA's office announced that Persky had been removed from presiding over a new sexual assault case.

"We lack confidence that Judge Persky can fairly participate in this upcoming hearing," the DA's office said in a statement.

"Remove Judge Aaron Persky from the Bench" takes place at 1014 Folsom Street from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
