SF Opening the Door to Reality Shows

Could San Francisco be paving the way for the return of the Real World? Wonder if Puck is free.

The San Francisco Examiner reports that Supervisor Mark Farrell introduced legislation that would encourage reality television to set up shop in the City.

“Our film office has gotten a number of requests from different reality shows wanting to film here in San Francisco but because they were not specifically included in our film rebate program they have been hesitant to come up here to San Francisco,” Farrell told the paper.

He said amending San Francisco's existing film rebate program to include reality television shows would create more jobs in the City.

The bill would make it cheaper for small independent production companies to do business in the City. Currently San Francisco charges $300 a day for a film permit but under the legislation, productions with under a $500,000 budget would have the fee reduced to $100.
