SF Prepares for People, Not Cars, at America's Cup

Organizers say leave the car at home, take public transit.

America's Cup organizers are doing what they can to limit the number of cars in the city for the 2013 race.

The "People Plan for the America's Cup" is designed to keep cars away from the waterfront according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The plan calls for a bike sharing in the city and new bike routes. It would create a path in one lane of the Embarcadero for bicyclists and pedestrians.

There would also be a new Muni line created. The E line would run from Caltrain to Fisherman's Wharf on existing tracks. An F line shuttle would take people between the Ferry Building to the Wharf. While extra express buses would connect BART to the waterfront and other transit centers.

The idea is to keep drivers out of the city and divert them to park-and-ride hubs in outlying areas.
