SF Suspect Killed in Houston After Shootout

Man accused of shooting 3-year-old and her grandfather.

The man accused of shooting a 3-year-old girl, her grandfather and another man in San Francisco on Halloween is dead this morning.

20-year-old Jesse Brown shot and killed himself after a shootout with police in Houston according to the Houston Chronicle.

Brown is accused of shooting a 3-year-old girl and her grandfather while they were coming home from trick-or-treating in Potrero Hill last year. He was apparently trying to shoot a 20-year-old man nearby and the pair got caught in the crossfire.

All three survived and Brown fled. Houston police think he was on his way to Georgia and had been on the run since the Halloween shooting.

On Saturday, Brown was at a Greyhound bus terminal in Houston when a screener spotted the butt of a handgun in his duffel bag. The screener stalled Brown while an off-duty officer working as a security guard approached.

When the officer tried to stop Brown, he reached into his bag and pulled out a gun. The officer was shot in the hand when Brown started shooting, but managed to return fire.

Brown took off and pulled another gun from his bag. He used that one to shoot at two Houston police officers who responded to the scene. One of them was hit in the leg.

That's when Brown ran into a nearby parking garage. Officers were searching the garage when they heard a single gunshot. They found him in a stairwell with a gunshot wound to the head.
