Pet Me: Therapy Dogs Welcomed at San Francisco International Airport

Dogs available for the petting are at SFO's terminals

SFO is going to the dogs.

The therapy dogs.

A troupe of "certified therapy dogs" will be on-hand at San Francisco International Airport beginning today, for the petting pleasure of weary travelers, according to reports.

The dogs -- not to be confused with the drug- and bomb-sniffing police K9 units -- are at the airport courtesy of the local SPCA's "Animal Assisted Therapy Program," according to USA Today.

The dogs are supposed to help de-stress travelers, and were selected for their "suitability" to withstand a mass of petting, the newspaper reported.

Other therapy dog programs are in place in Reno, Los Angeles, Florida and Miami.
