A 27-year-old man was shot in the stomach near the Soma neighborhood in San Francisco early Monday morning, and police are trying to figure out what happened because they say he is not being cooperative.

The shooting happened about 1:50 a.m. on Howard street between First and Second streets near the Bay Bridge off-ramp.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition.
