A man is being held on $500,000 bail in Santa Clara County Jail in connection with the July robbery of a San Jose bank, police said.
At about 3:30 p.m. on July 28, a man held up a Bank of the West branch at 965 S. De Anza Blvd., and police reached out to the public for help in identifying the robber.
The department released images captured by bank surveillance cameras and received information that pointed to 56-year-old John Robert Alexander, according to police.
Investigators determined that Alexander was a transient and living out of his car, police said. They obtained a warrant for his arrest and distributed a bulletin to law enforcement agencies throughout the region.
Mono County sheriff's deputies on patrol located Alexander's pickup truck and arrested him.
He was initially booked into Mono County Jail before being transferred to Santa Clara County on Thursday.
