A body found on a pedestrian walkway in San Jose on Monday was ruled to be a homicide victim by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office on Tuesday, police said.
Police responded to reports of a body found on a pedestrian walkway near Curtner Avenue and State Route 87 at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
The victim was already deceased when officers arrived and medical examiner's officials took custody of the body, police said.
On Tuesday afternoon, the medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide.
Police have not revealed the nature of the victim's injuries, but have said the incident is not believed to be gang-related. The 48-year-old transient victim's name has been withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
