Officer Jose Garcia said after the robbery, three suspects fled in a stolen car. The victim provided a description of the car to a dispatcher, who then sent officers to track it down.

Police spotted the getaway car and were trying to stop it, when the car raced off on U.S. Highway 101, and crashed into a chain link fence near Alum Rock Avenue.
