SJPD Investigating Alviso Homicide

The community of Alviso is reeling from a rare homicide Monday.

Someone called 911 to report a person was battered and bleeding in the middle of Michigan Avenue at about 6:45 a.m.

San Jose police said they found the victim lying in the middle of a street two blocks north of her home.

The woman's family identified her as Leticia Martinez, 20, of Alviso.

Witnesses say she was in some kind of argument at her home and then was somehow hit and possibly dragged by a car.  Police said she was suffering from serious injuries when they found her.  Martinez later died at a nearby hospital.

Her brother Juan Martinez was shocked by the death.  He described his sister as always providing a laugh for the family.  He said she had a beautiful smile.

Police blocked off the area and attempted to find witnesses.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information on the case.
