SJPD Shoot Man in Hotel Stairwell

San Jose appears to have suffered a rash of officer involved shootings of late.

An armed suspect was shot and injured by a police officer shooting  at a San Jose hotel Sunday morning, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to reports of an armed man at the Extended Stay  Hotel at 55 E. Brokaw Road at about 7:45 a.m., San Jose police Officer Jose  Garcia said.

Responding officers found the suspect asleep in a stairwell. They said he displayed "threatening  behavior" after waking prompting one officer to shoot at the suspect in self-defense,  Garcia said.

The suspect was shot at least once and was taken to a hospital to  be treated.

His injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

No officers were injured in the shooting.  This was San Jose's seventh officer-involved shooting.
