SJPD Working First Homicide of 2010

A 30-year-old man fatally shot in San Jose on Saturday night is the city's first homicide victim this year, a police spokesman said Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 2700 block of Chopin Avenue at about 11 p.m. and found the man near the garage with a gunshot wound, San Jose police spokesman Ronnie Lopez said.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Lopez.

No suspects have been arrested and police are asking anyone with information to call the Police Department at (408) 277-5283. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
