Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson thanked the hometown hero who helped stop a terror attack on a Paris-bound high-speed train and presented him with a Sacramento Kings jersey after saying he saw him wearing a Lakers jersey on TV.
“I got one bone to pick,” Johnson said at a news conference Wednesday. “In all the pictures of you over in Europe, you had a Lakers jersey on.” At that point, an assistant handed Johnson a Sacramento Kings jersey emblazoned with Sadler’s name on the back.
Johnson presented Sadler the custom jersey and said, “Let me make it official: The No. 1 Kings fan in the city, Anthony Sadler.”
With that, Johnson reminded the crowd Sadler is back in class at Sacramento State University student and needed to get back to studying.
Sadler spoke briefly during the news conference with the mayor of Sacramento. The 23-year-old said he “didn't expect all this to happen.''
“It's been a “crazy last few days,'' Sadler told the crowd, adding he's happy to be home.
It was the first time Sadler has spoken publically since returning to the U.S.

Sadler arrived in Sacramento on Tuesday. He and two Sacramento-area friends – U.S. Air Force Airman Spencer Stone and Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos – helped subdue a man with ties to radical Islam who was carrying weapons on the train Friday.
Johnson said a parade is planned to honor all three men, but they are still working to lockdown a date when the three friends can attend.
