Salinas Wrestling Coach Arrested on Suspicion of Committing Lewd Act on Minor

A wrestling coach was arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with a girl in Salinas on Saturday, police said.

Adolfo Castillo, 23, was arrested on suspicion of committing a lewd act on a child, police said Monday.

Castillo worked with local wrestling teams as an assistant junior varsity coach at Salinas High School and a volunteer coach at Washington Middle School, according to police.

Around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Woodside Drive and Greenwood Place, police said.

Responding officers found a man, later identified as Castillo, and a girl inside the car, according to police. 

Officials with the Salinas Union High School District and both schools were informed of the incident and are cooperating in the investigation, police said.
