San Francisco Cable Car Lines Up and Running as Storm Eases Up: Muni Officials

All San Francisco Municipal Railway cable car lines were served by buses until about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday because of the rainy weather, according to Muni officials.

The agency stopped service on the cable car lines as a precaution and restored service when the rain eased up, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.

Cable car lines also experienced a partial shutdown Monday afternoon, but that issue was caused by a mechanical problem that developed in the area of Powell and Bush streets, officials said.

The Powell/Mason and Powell/Hyde lines switched back to avoid the problem area while repairs were made.

Muni officials warned riders to expect delays as buses and light-rail trains operate at reduced speeds during the stormy weather.
