A big-rig truck hit a fire hydrant, causing water to burst onto the street in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood Friday afternoon, a fire spokeswoman said.
The truck struck the fire hydrant, located in the 100 block of New Montgomery Street near Mission Street, at about 1:40 p.m., San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
The intersection was blocked as fire crews work to shut off the water flowing into the street, according to Talmadge.
