San Francisco Man Dies While Trying to Free Boat

QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - Police have identified a California man who apparently drowned off the coast of Massachusetts while trying to free his family's boat from a mooring line.

The Norfolk district attorney's office says the body of Jesse Loubier, of San Francisco, was pulled from the waters off Quincy, in the Boston suburbs, on Saturday evening.

Witnesses and family members told police the 32-year-old Loubier entered the water to untangle the boat from the line. He resurfaced after an unsuccessful attempt but then dove back in and did not resurface.

The Boston Globe reports Loubier was on his family's boat about 100 yards from the dock.

The Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Authorities do not suspect foul play.
