San Francisco Police Shoot at Suspect During Vehicle Pursuit

One person is in custody after leading police in a vehicle pursuit through San Francisco late Monday.

Police said the incident began in the city's Bayview District when an officer attempted to stop a person of interest. The suspect drove off and initiated a pursuit, which ended in the Sunset District when the suspect crashed into another vehicle and concrete rail near 19th Avenue and Taraval Street.

An officer also fired a shot at the suspect during the pursuit. Police said the officer believed the suspect was trying to ram him with the vehicle when he fired his weapon. The shot hit the vehicle and not the suspect, police said.

The suspect and an officer both suffered minor injuries, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
