Two Bay Area Cities Named Best for Trick-or-Treating

San Francisco and San Jose have topped a list of the best cities in the country for kids to trick-or-treat for Halloween.

A survey conducted by Zillow considered the company's own home index, crime data, average age of residents and proximity of homes. Presidio Heights, Sea Cliff, Cow Hollow, Glen Park are the best San Francisco neighborhoods for kids to go door-to-door in search of free treats, while the hot spots in San Jose are Cambrian Park, Almaden Valley, Willow Glen, Blossom Valley and Rose Garden.

Both cities also have free merchant-driven trick-or-treating options for children.

In San Francisco's Japan Center Malls, there is trick or treating from 1-5 p.m. as part of the annual free Spooktacular Halloween Party.

In San Jose, kids can trick-or-treat at the businesses of downtown Willow Glen on Lincoln Avenue between Minnesota and Willow streets. Pre-schoolers and kids in strollers are welcome between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., while school-aged kids in costume may participate between 3-4:30 p.m.
