Bomb Threat Reported at San Francisco State University

Classes remained in session and the library stayed open at San Francisco State University while police investigated a bomb threat reported at the campus student center Thursday morning, university officials said.

SFSU officials wrote on Twitter at about 11:30 a.m. that university police received a threat at the Cesar Chavez Student Center.

By about noon, SFSU officials said that San Francisco police were sweeping the building. By 1 p.m., police indicated it was safe to re-enter the Student Center. Authorities determined there was no threat, the university tweeted.

SFSU officials were advising people to stay away from the building that houses the student center located at 1650 Holloway Ave.

San Francisco police spokesman Gordon Shyy said SFSU campus police led the investigation.

University officials kept students, faculty and staff abreast of the situation via Twitter, Facebook, email and the university's website.

Alternate locations for students to study were set up on campus at Towers Conference Center, according to university officials.
